Work Chatroom #A.

***** has entered. Other person left?

Yeah, it’s just you and me again.

Let’s try getting a better less vague explanation as to this whole thing. I want to be able to eat my lunch in peace and our chatroom stuff gets filed.

Rumors and Glitches are in the branch of Supernatural things in our work division. Things that can be described as ghost stories, myths, collective manifestations of things that aren’t supposed to be there but are… the entities, as they’re fully referred to as. If you think about it, if you mention it, then somewhere, subsequently, it has to exist.

But the problem is, in our pokemon centric world, most of the time, unusual happenstances and activities are assumed to be pokemon.

Half the time we investigate these reports they’re just pranks by ghost types. Or fairy types. Or dark types. Or any pokemon, really. You’d be surprised. Remember the “alien invasion” that was just a bunch of Beeheyem?

Please don’t remind me. I like having a reasonable viewpoint of the world so knowing there's something so... illogical bothers me on a daily basis.

Do you believe in religion? A lot of what I'm about to say is probably borderling blasphemous, but all we've got to work with is online witnesses making things up, a briefing from a group of practiconers that I think is fronting a cult, and an illegal pdf from Sliph Co.

The heart of everything lies in creation. And to exhibit free will is to discard freely. And everything goes through the chain of command that was given to us by whatever you believe to be God. I dont' want to say the name because I'm pretty sure this is like, the actual name and my eyes will start bleeding or something insane.

"Creations are discarded or unfinished, which is the nature of all creations. But to create something leads to the destruction of another, but the residuals of the energy goes somewhere."

Dang, whoever is writing the pdf shouldn't have been a scientist at Sliph, they should've been a bard or something.

The (witness) person before you in our chat used a comic analogy, but that’s pretty much how it is. There’s just simply a world full of unused concepts that exists in parallel to ours. Maybe worlds upon worlds, stacked onto an infinite layer that just… is.

This becomes a large problem when considering how many concepts and things exist in tandem like some kind of bizarre domino stack of weird to parse through on top of the "everything we investigate is actually a pokemon or a prank". Which means when we do deal with an actual real tangible thing there's a 50-50 chance of like, depending on how much has been SAID about the entity we're facing will lead to how much hell we go through.

" Knowledge is power, and to have full knowledge is a liberation as much as it is a shackle." That's the last thing on the practice briefing, by the way. We really need to do something about those guys before they end up summoning something we need to clean up.

Every time someone has an idea and scraps it? Into the void it goes. The info remains, but the context of what it was for doesn’t. So it’s a garbled piece of… something. Corrupted pieces that refused to fade into nothing, hence the corruption. Data is the best way to describe it because they started manifesting as data once electronics picked up. Things that were started and that spread throughout. You know, all the playground stuff we once used to make up as kids, stuff like the pokegods, new eevee evolutions, just things that were obviously our imagination just becoming reality.

It might be dream based. That’s confusing. Scrap that, go for science, you’re the logics guy anyways… They could be related to space time distortions, anomalies, stuff that’s way above my level of understanding based on the data I get online.

You got these online?

Yeah, looked up on a forum.

Note to self, find and scrub forums more often.

So ultra beasts are the same as the glitches…? Those are real?

I’d say they’re in similar areas. Most of our jobs tend to overlap anyways but UBs are in alola while meanwhile these guys are located in just the neighboring regions from Kanto to Sinnoh.

There's that kid in alola that managed to get the UBs to act normal, right? If only they weren’t so actively hostile, then some could cohabit as pokemon in their own right.

They can’t. Our job motto is our work. "Contain and Secure. If not, Destroy."

Then it's our fault. There’s too much built up resentment because we keep getting rid of them as they manifest. Imagine it this way, knowing you were made and discarded on a whim and then when you properly exist everyone puts a giant microscope on you or destroys you? Scrapped and unstable and in pain whenever they accidentally do manifest in reality.

It’s a tragic sort of fragile non-life. Rejected by their creators, the world, denied a chance of existence.

But our work isn’t going to stop just because some of us pity the things. Some of them are actively malicious rather than just lashing out of primal instinct. And not to mention the ones that spread incredibly quick as an invasive species. But we should move on to the more dangerous ones. Because if they can think, they can have far more emotions than anger.

Personified grudges? I think. Or like, enough people thought about them as human so they just started looking human...?

Like the glitch users. Exactly. Well, a 50-50 chance of hostility depending on which one you run into. Plus the fact they’re mostly childlike, which means you can keep them almost relatively… contained… is the best word to use, right? If you run into one and handle it the right way, everyone walks away and no one gets hurt. Unless they hunt you down as a slight.

Do they run the risk of being “alternates?” I rememver hearing about that in the briefing.

Definitely fit in that sub category. Have you seen some of them? We’ve had multiple incidents of them outright following around the people they resemble the most. The interactions always go terribly, but it’s just sad. Most of the time they’re just confused as to why depending on how much they’ve properly manifested. If it looks human and acts human it throws you off. But they can’t be human, right?

They can't die. They can only fade away. I'v watched the footage. All they ever do is say “I just wanted to exist…, I just wanted to see my friends again.”

One of the most destructive ones just cries out for his mom and that he wants to go home.

How in the world am I not supposed to feel pity?

Gah, this is headache inducing. I liked my job easier when it was just “point a weapon at a screaming monster, ask questions later.” I never should've gone for that shady ad listing...

We'll continue this later. Don't pity something just because it looks human.

What a mess.

Author Notes:

(I'm making a thing called the "chatrooms" saga I guess. Made it up and now it's becoming a new sort of thing which will last as long as 1. I keep making ideas and slacking off on actual stories and 2. Me not wanting to break the main page with images..)

I’ve accepted that every time I mention any glitch user they will oscillate between creepy chaos person or sad pathetic sopping wet cat and I will never be consistent because it’s not like pokemon glitches are 100% consistent either between benevolence or destruction.

Wisteria however has been a menace since day 1 of his conception I thought “what if Ketsuban made a clone of himself that sucked so much that the clone just wanted everyone dead.” His behavior has definitely changed past conception of "sad weepy crybaby" where he jarringly goes between that and extreme violence.

Like are the glitches they have manifesting as antagoinstic forces and these users are just the unlucky wielders of such power or just a thing that is there and whatever people use with its powers is on them. Is it a primal evil or just a misunderstood collective trying to get people to back off before they accidentally erase themselves from existence like the users did? Is it a gift or a curse? Am I putting way too much thought into essentially what was me deciding to make an OC after watching JJK and deciding to retroactively glue lore onto it? Is this way too dramatic for a pokemon story?

Yes.

The glitch interpol guys almost get it, but they refuse to label the glitch users as human. So it's miscommunication all the way down because all the glitch centric companies and meddlers don't want to let the others know anything which leads to all the problems of constant retaliation.

(Note: i think the funniest part of all this write up is that majority of the unused pokemon that have been revealed so far look like… this. Truly the most bizzare off putting mons still come from gen 1 proper which I guess is why all of the kanto glitch users are the most overpowered.) (It's just a large meta joke all the way down of me going "entities, creepy things, oh scary, uhhh, I think stealth rock would obliterate the shit out of a weird glitch pokemon because the inevitable power creep of later gens means that majority of the glitch users would not be able to handle the weather wars.")
(This also answers my personal question of "do I want this to be dramatic, sad, or comedic in like the worst way possible" and I think the answer is "yes." Cynical corporate business productions sending underpaid workers to handle the stuff that the creator looked at and said "EW" at. )

(I suppose for the sake of making this sound somewhat serious, maybe they’re all dramatically off putting. Like put through a filter or something. Like the neopets ghost or zombie paintbrush.)

Alternatively they could also just look like the beta gen 3 concept art Good Aus.

This is single-handedly more terrifying than anything I could ever create in my life. And look at this guy! This is truly the greatest injustice.

Look at him. He’s so round. Why isn’t he in a game.

The elephant in the room I'm not addressing is the fact the glitch users so far have primarily existed in this vague jokepost esque world in my mind where as much as I can say "oh it's a bit sad that all these guys want to do is exist and they are sad" this exists currently in the same world where I go "mario punches the shit out of sonic.exe and he does the BLJ " be for real

I'm literally making all of this up as I go. It's great but it's also a mess.
