✍️ Anyways uhhh here’s stuff I’m gonna be looking into I guess.
Anti copyright protections (not the fake anti piracy ones)
- - Gimmick! Black Hole is a good example.
- rayman 2 had the pirate head take up the whole screen even with faulty legit CDs
- recall how in older pokemon games if the piracy detection went off the pokeballs would be spinning indefinitely
-snood.
- what’s that game on TCRF that’s like “hello hacker when I find you I’ll break your legs”
- there was one for bootleg FRLG copies that was like “buy it or die”
- the faker ones are usually “if you pirate a character will tell you to die and bleed and leak your IP Address like evil Nintendo putting in evil Mario because someone got a reproduction cart of SMB3 for the GBA from a secondhand shop” and like the only good one was the Mario party DS one tbh because it was like the first one to be made and everything after missed the point
Better research into arbritatry code execution/speedrun Strats
- my problem is that any time I hear about a code or glitch it sounds like a wizard did it so my understanding of glitches is indistinguishable from magic because I have Zero coding knowledge every time I work off a template something breaks and it looks like ass
More Pokemon glitches/pokegods/ playground rumor things
- going back to my old buddy internet archive and scouring long dead forums, my favorite!
What about the other elephant in the room in regards to rumors. I already explained this on the page proper that I haven’t updated, but they’re based on online stories but not 1 to 1. Basically what happens in MB where all sorts of nightmare hypotheticals start coming to life because of Wallachia or something, it's been years since I've even thought about MB outside of watching tourneys.
Larger issue at hand for the whole “I need the glitch Interpol/SCP ripoff group to actually fight monsters of sorts” is
- 1. In spite of being a casual horror fan I am deadly afraid of horror in general and jumpscares and screamers and gore
2. Most things that are horror related/adjacent are reliant on literally everything in 1
3. I haven’t interacted with any kind of largely adjacent horror/creepy thing video
game related in months because of point 1 and reading through them
or hearing a reading takes me out a lot of times because they’ll go for
the thing of “was the game hacked because the normal mascot was screaming
and hyperrealistic blood and a scary thing happened and a demon or something”
and are as subtle as getting a brick thrown through a window that says “BOO”
which turns into another subset of “how serious am I even making this hypothetical
story scenario if I ever write it”
What was my first intro to creepypasta related stuff anyways, yuriofwind audio readings... the scary jigglypuff thumbnail was there too.
I feel like the hardest thing about glitch users is trying to explain an origin for them
in universe because the OG premise was “idk lmao” and now I have to actually give it
a reasonable existence. Rumors are far easier because it’s literally just the
collective unconscious SMT style.
I’m thinking the way to reconcile how the glitch users come about is just saying the origin differs every time because like,
are they actual pokemon trainers, or just the usual haunted game cartridge thing like abandon or is he the exceptional case.
This is what happens when you don't reign in plot bunnies, they start multiplying.
Also I need to get a grip on what I'm doing with Red because so far Rumors has like. 5 Reds. 2 normal ones because I've got a regular Red and Fire and Leaf as part of the twins thing and Fire is affected by false red in terms of an existential crisis as part of his character arc,
then 3 because of the glitch users.
The problem is if I go with the creepypasta roster thing then there's a good chance there could be a 4th Red if I don't stack creepypastas.
Currently because Abandon's based on the later iteration of GR, Ketsuban is based on GR but he goes in the opposite direction and just loses it,
Wisteria is based on Creepy black (b/c the OG story starred Red),
which means there is a missing Red that is centered on Mt. Silver specifically with Rival or with Gold/Blake/Silver/why's this guy got so many names.
The problem of me NOT combining stories and then making up my own OC glitch users on top of that leads to a problem with the other kanto guys so like there's a
ghost leaf because of abandon lonliness (that's how it's spelled, there's no E),
but fire's dead in that one, so that's fine because I don't have to think about the twins that much aside from like 2 stories.
Ghost Leaf gets her own team of haunted eevees and eeveelutions like Zombreon and the uhhh the green one.
I am NOT remembering all these names off the top of my head.
What's not fine is because I made Terry exist to make the FRLG guys seperate from the Gen 1 kanto trio
there's an unaccounted for Rival running around because the one in lonliness isn't him Nor is he the same one as Blue Tears, that's Cyan.
So currently, to explain this issue, there's Fire (False Red, living), Fire (lonliness, dead), Red (Blue Tears, dead ), Red (Easter Egg, also dead),
and Gold (who doesn't have a pre FNF story where he gets affected by Rival, which is the issue at hand, because bro gets murked by everyone but him), and I don't want to combine the premises because the glitch users live seperate from each other.
None of the characters prior to rumors have any connection because the layers of the glitch dimension have people locked into a few areas. So Leaf would be by Pokemon Tower, Cyan by Mt. Silver, and
the issue is there's a Red on Mt. Silver that isn't accounted for because Ketsuban's running around glitch city in story proper and only pops up by Cinnabar Island until he figures out a
way to leave which lands him in Sinnoh of all places, meeting an OC and Dawn who just got back from Hisui, and then starting a mess.
Writers hate this logical fallacy! Unaccounted for haunted ghost ruining the premise!
GET OFF THE MOUNTAIN
The reason they are seperate is because I "love" making things complicated for myself, if you can't tell already.
(But the Gold Centric stories got glued together somehow in a narrative loop of "he dies, unown happen.")
POV: You the reader listening to me ramble about this stuff
Myo doesn't have this issue of "too many Reds" because she's solely original, doesn't have the extreme imposter syndrome of the Red(s) because she's basically just
"I'm sad because I don't exist in Gen 1 proper and only on like paper" and would rather
be nice instead of you know, blowing up because she hard counters Ketsuban b/c her power is based on the female symbol glitch.
The creepypasta premise gets dropped for later characters because gen 1 and 2 really do make up the bulk of creepypastas
at the time and like, what the heck am I gonna do with something that's so ultra specific, better to keep that seperate from the users and just use them as is in terms of Entities.
And there's less to work with to make new glitch users because glitches as a whole that are iconic and weird immediately drop during Gen 5. I was pushing it with Lyra until I remembered acid rain,
but like who's gonna take sky drop and make that into an ultra specific power when it got patched immediately in the next gen.
I think narrative wise the factor of the Red bros all having different levels of feeling like they got shafted is kind of hilarious when contrasted with Kris ,
who should have that rivalry/level of borderline hate the bros have towards everyone else
because Kris literally was replaced with Lyra unlike the fanon narrative for the boys.
She was actually forgotten about when making HGSS during dev interviews where it's like "wait, who's Kris?". Her only notable debut for years was when she returned in Masters.
Will I account for the missingno sighting in gen 6.
Tbh I kinda forgot that happened because I didn't play gen 6 on release.
The thing is I think Horror stuff interests me not from like a sense of horror or being like macabre and disturbing and me somehow going like “haha, cool” because that’s not really it,
I’m kinda into horror from a narrative analytical and psychological sense of scope where I go “that’s gotta be scary as hell” for stuff
like losing your autonomy and mind and like your sense of self whether by zombies or vampires or ghosts and an underlying sense of tragedy
when everything could’ve been avoided in the murder mansion if the group of idiots didn’t go into the murder mansion and the concept of like
the survivors will never be the same if they survived like when I kind of watched A quiet place during college (I say kind of because I admit,
I’m a weenie and seeing a giant monster and blood and screaming and stuff freaks me out. I couldn’t even watch grey’s anatomy for long periods of time even though I know it’s fake.)
What I’m envisioning might be an entirely different genre. I believe I might be thinking of gothic victorian novels with sin and guilt. I’m thinking existential like the twilight zone.
Symbolism. Note: I’m not sure if horror is going to be the big thing like how for a while I got into medieval novels because of FF14.
How many horror things have I even engaged with. Tbh I think the most I’ve done with it is watch a handful of YouTubers play through games and me frantically look away whenever I feel a jumpscare about to happen. (This happens even with silent hill and RE.)
Just start listening to horror podcasts or something if the visuals are a problem.
This is an entirely unrelated anecdotal thing but I need to play more RPGMaker horror games.
I might be putting way too much thought into all of this and I should probably just write the things instead of out-thinking myself.
