If you're still in a cave story mood, there's plenty of mods that expand on the OG game. Some are fan sequels, prequels, or their own thing.
Go check out cave story encore as well since it's a fan remake with a new soundtrack
I've always been interested in the cave story beta since Pixel was working on the game for years. We get occasional glimpses of it sometimes in presentations but for the most part a lot of it is still unknown minus the OST.
