It's kind of funny in my mind because more manga have actually given Silver's equivalents Chikorita instead of Totodile. Jo's Big Adventure and Golden Boys over pokespe.
There's a Kagemaru Himeno manga that has designs for Gold and Silver (battle capture comic) but it is absurdly rare and therefore I did not consider looking for it alongside the new year's artwork.
Also Gen 2 is particularly bad with having manga adaptions that get cancelled and have to rush to their ending.
Changed my mind and found them on Pokechars tumblr.

This image quality from gamefreak's webpage for early development on crystal is for ants so I used the recreation sprite used by ghost missingno/Hatun and I know the image quality will still be for ants
Sidenote: You ever think about how weird it is that pokemon doesn’t have a gendered protagonist
option until gen 2 and even then it’s treated as a feature for the third version game that only exists
because gamefreak made a game for a defunct phone feature? (Pokemon Pink did exist at one point in development
during gen 1 which would've featured a playable girl presumably. That one's weird because we're still not sure
if it would've been Jigglypuff (anime mascot) or Clefairy (was supposed to be the OG mascot)).
Hoenn
Pokespe's the only depiction that actually shows one of the protags wearing blue, even when playing Sapphire your character by default still wears Red.
In Masters, she also has a Blue EX recolor but I wanted to remain sane and not put in every single recolor.
Wally has a single variant in pokespe, but then he goes right back to wearing his ORAS fit when the ORAS arc starts so I was like "do I really want every rival on here" and I said "nah..."
Sinnoh
The further I go with this I think you can tell I stopped caring about the transparency problems
The Hisui counterparts have no variants at the moment aside from like one anime special with Rei.
Unova
Unova's really weak in the counterpart department because unlike most girl protagonists Hilda did not exist in the anime.
Neither did Hilbert but that's a given because Ash was out there stealing drips.
Kalos
Serena's really popular, Calem gets absolutely zilch.
Everyone Else (Alola, LGPE, Galar, Paldea, Eventual Gen 10 reigon)
Basically character customization eliminated the need for variants and this page can be done until masters adds in new designs
