Game Log

Gamers. This is where any video game from the media log page is going. Aside from pokemon, which will continue to get it's own seperate section. Things that were from 2023 prior to making the pokemon gameplay log will remain on this page. Some of these games have already been dropped which leaves this bouncing all over and chronology isn't a large priority currently.

Fall Wrap Up I don’t really play video games as often as I say I do huh. Well, well. I’d probably do better if I had a separate game log from my media log but then at that rate I’d be breaking up the site too much… , I’m doing that with my findings page though. Same with the media notes as a whole.
So the only thing I’ve really played outside of pokemon is undertale and that was me getting through the hotlands. In terms of my switch, Still no motivation on my ACNH file. ACNL has been dusty for a bit too… I think my game backlog has been a bit overzealous for a while. Pocket Camp being down means that Mercy is done for. Here's some picks I took of em with my sibling's account (last time I played was halloween... years ago.) Right now pokemon wise I’m hitting a wall with my normal monotype because normal types and fire types mean no type coverage at the moment. I think I’ve got a run of recharged pink halfway through if I decide to evolve my pokemon which is… interesting to play with no evolutions. I’m doing the same with Baby Blue since that one is based on the little cup.
So in my final line up I’ve got Yellow Legacy, Baby Blue, Mono Sword, and I’m probably not finishing my X nuzlocke this year. My pokemon gameplay log is getting severely reduced after this year as I’ve essentially grown incredibly bored with pokemon post Sword playthroughs.
I’m thinking of playing through some old Kirby games again. Mostly the 3DS lineup. Maybe extra epic yarn.
I still have a few 3DS games I got that I didn’t start so my resolution next year is to figure out how I’m gonna do that since my brain has been so like, sit down and watch a show brained. To be fair, it’s a lot easier to multitask with a show in the background…
Nintendo Music This doesn’t count as a game. Maybe. I like how I was like “I wish Nintendo wouldn’t have trickle down games for Switch Online” and then they did the same thing for their music app
Well now I can listen to extended Yoshi’s island athletic theme and Snow Bound Land and Stickerbush/brush/Internet Checkpoint without getting YouTube ads in between Did this really require sacrificing GilvaSunner and probably tons of decades old accounts once the copyright bots start rolling in
Do you know how many games probably won’t be on here Hint: it’s a LOT. They’re gonna skip over all the 3rd party songs, smash bros is getting clipped, who knows if the vocal songs will remain No bonus CDs either like the one moonstruck blossom remix Square Enix you cowards release the Live a Live soundtrack onto streaming and quit copyright striking because I sure know that it’s not showing up on NSO anytime soon
They don’t even have the composers credited I’m in a complaining crabby grouchy sort of mood. This selection is kind of hilariously lopsided currently, who put in tomodachi collection when it wasn’t even released outside of Japan Monkey paw curls Mother 3 is gonna be on here too, isn’t it. I can’t wait for people to do their usual reaction to that one song with the absolutely messed up time signature because the boss has an irregular heartbeat. There’s two variants.
The question is how these songs are recorded like, directly from the Nintendo vaults, emulator? I’d probably know if they put more songs in the earlier sections or wait Is this only gonna be songs that are currently on the switch lineup I hope not, let me listen to pokemon themes that aren’t just the switch games.
They have the Wii shop channel theme. This would go hard as a desktop app.
ACNH: Dreamy V2

ACNH was pretty much the backbone of the pandemic for a lot of people, myself included
But the behavior was… Raymond and others had a discord trade market, people would fight over design schemes, they’d kick out any villager they deemed ugly and basically made the equivalent of an animal crossing gated community. One time I saw two instagram users beefing over a volleyball on a beach. The internet pretty much took this game and extreme databased it. It’s convenient but it’s also a spreadsheet simulator more than this super chill relaxing game that was wanted by the devs. But people took to it like a second personality and job even worse than usual. The direction of animal crossing from “living with villagers” to “godmodding villagers like the sims” was an interesting pivot and going from wild world and city folk to new horizon might as well be two separate dstinct game series like harvest moon and story of seasons. Villagers in this game never get mad at you, they’re just feeling bad! Jocks will always talk about their muscles. Special episodes don’t exist. Swimming wasn’t even the game until 2.0 but hey, happy home DLC! Pocket camp has had more attention than the main console. Why does the mobile game get more updates and furniture. There’s an absurd amount of stuff I’d want in a main game just sitting there in a goddamn fortune cookie. Note: I wrote this before they announced they were shutting down pocket camp for a paid version.
NH as gotten extreme neglected middle child syndrome because it’s not as much as new leaf (welcome amiibo still has better features like the holiday camp imo) and it’s straight up never getting another update. I like a town more than a desert island. I hate drip feed model updates, just put stuff in the base game and then have a super cool DLC, why am I paying for like 50% of the game and then waiting for the other 50% plus a $30 DLC lmaoooooo Anyways despite myself saying I wouldn’t be a min max grinder I went right back to it, it’s my nature of playing and it’s developed as a habit of the pandemic.
The cozy games tend to mostly just becoming micromanaging sort of things, 0 stakes, most I’ve felt is annoyance at tools breaking and that’s like, okay, just shake more trees, only consequence is wasps. Super annoying to have to either run or save all the time Gulliver showed up to my island pretty early and I’m considering basically putting pipes on my island for fast travel I thought those would’ve been gone with my save data but I guess collab stuff stays? I’m aiming for a more uh… natural camper sort of thing. Cept I’m dumping Mario pipes for fast travel. It’s pretty stupid.
I still remember my sibling showing up and breaking every rock on my island for supplies. So I visited the campsite since it’s required and you aren’t going to believe who my first camper is Stu and Raymond are now neighbors I'm not the best at identifying redd's paintings so i'm unsure if I'll get scammed. I have the full 10 island roster now! Still only 2 stars though.

Minecraft (The Mod Experience)

i'm downloading minecraft mods! it does not feel right I might get a virus look i just want guns why is this website inherently looking sketchy i might play pixelmon if i ever beat regular minecraft firsties What a stupid mod system I need to make sure things are actually compatible with each other and download and redownload and uh stuff and downgrade and things Remember, the screenshot button is F2!
I feel like everyone’s first Minecraft night in a new world is either guns blazing exploration or dirt hut I heart dirt It wasn’t as interesting as I had hoped. I wanted to make friends with a dog but I kept forgetting which dog I fed. Also I threw eggs as a projectile because I didn’t know that could be done and I made the dog sad.

Misc. games Maplestory M
wading away my maplestory behavior by using maplestory M as the deterrent I hate autobattler games, let's see how long this lasts! I was going to pick Bishop as my class but Hayato had a burning event so I started with him. I would've gone with Sia but I think she's gender locked. I liked her class, she had a bit of neat lore (by Maplestory standards) but eh. Now that Hayato got to level 100 or so within the few hours of creation it was kinda crazy, eh? Old Maplestory wouldn’t have had you do that, it would’ve taken weeks at best or months just to get to a smaller level. Now it’s like you’ve got events to breeze past the content. Makes you wonder what the point even is for all these abandoned maps. Especially since it’s a near copy paste of the actual MMO… I think it's a lot nicer when you just explore a place instead of just auto battlign all over the place... why be called an explorer if you just do nothing while the game plays itself? There's no enjoyment to be had out of that IMO. Burning is crazy. I really sat in one spot and grinded until level 100 with nothing stopping my autoplayer. It's different with clicker games, the whole purpose it to watch number go up. but if i lower the volume, then i have an autoplayer maplestory album! that's pretty nice. So my decision to wean off GMS was for the best because KMS ( the OG servers and basically the base code of the game, GMS itself is spaghetti cobbled code) blew up the Reboot F2P server It’s gone entirely.

Anyways, Pokemon Ironmon has been pretty weird, what I sincerely need to do is just play the game like a speedrunner and go fast, that’s the way I got the first run of Leafgreen done and I haven’t really had that momentum for any other game I’ve played because doing ironmon means if I make a single mistake I don’t actually get to fully explore the game… so ironically, ironmon might be dead again? Depends on how it goes with the Gen 1 games, that’s my new focus. The XY chronicles is a year long project so it’s okay if I don’t do it all now.

Played some of Yoshi’s Island, one of my favorite SNES Platformers that I would never in my life try to 100%. I already did dreamland 3 100% on the 20th anniversary wii release and 64, not doing those two again because some of those puzzles were OBTUSE. I’ve been playing that one bit by bit on my switch online when I recall I have a switch online. Being a PC gamer pretty much made me have buyer’s remorse for that thing, even my 3DS has been used more often this year (mostly to play pokemon X and miitopia.)

Game wise I’ve mostly just been playing spark the electric jester. I kind of played through a ton of demos before getting the game for the steam winter sales so I breezed through the first chunk of levels. I’m the only person who would note the dialogue changes because of how much of the old demos I played. Now I’m in the mid game and getting completely beat up because I’ve got no clue what I’m doing or where the good abilities are at.

The notes are scattering a bit more now.

Spark the electric jester (Main game cleared): It’s very easy to feel completely lost during the later half of spark as the stages get more loop like and I lose my one ability I use to cheese the game. You’re never taught about the dash parry until Fark campaign. In the end, I feel like I had a better time with the one bugged run where I just had edgy for no reason but that’s on me Spark Mods (To Continue): Choco and float both have different movesets from spark which is a nice touch to make them all feel like different characters in the mods
Undertale (Started): Everyone and their grandmother have already psychoanalyzed the crap out of undertale so I’m just here to get better at playing deltarune. I have nothing new to add to it since I’ve seen a bunch of streamers play it and whatnot. You’re supposed to understand the quirked up monsters but then I realize my RPG addled brain is like “why waste time with bullets when I can just get a big number to attack” and I realize a pokemon trainer would probably grind the underground to dust without a second thought and that’s not what I’m going for because doing no mercy is tedious and there’s a lot of ways to accidentally end the route
Slay the Princess (To Continue): My friend recommended this so I’ve been very happy to say that I have no clue what’s going on but I like defying the narrator to have increasingly weirder routes. And there’s probably a lot of those, so I’ll keep playing this but actually listen to the voice cues because my brain goes very quickly to click prompts so I might miss something.
Genshin Lantern Rite: Cut for space. One day I’ll probably just go “nah” and delete the game since I’m always on the fence with this one. And it takes up so much space… (lol.)
Fire emblem Awakening (Started): So I did not realize that they kinda just throw you into everything incredibly quick with the premonition.so far I play footsies in fire emblem and let Fredrick shoot his shot. I got to the smash cutscene in game and then immediately realized that I’m not good at fire emblem and I have no idea how to use low level units. Is there a grinding thing I can do or am I just screwed.

Pokémon Section: Pokemon gets a seperate update but I’ll have three posts for it depending on how the rest of the month goes. My current progress on the XY chronicles has grinded to a total halt as I’ve found myself easily distracted by wanting to reread all of special, playing crystal clear instead of X, and being too invested in finishing death note instead of continuing to watch the anime since I finished up the Pokémon TV project already. You need to collect that crap on different services like it’s the goddamn chaos emeralds to have a chance of watching all the seasons now. So it was probably better in the past before all the streaming services started taking pieces of the pokemon pie which makes it a bit annoying that there’s no official subs after all these years either, right. If all of the pokemon series is a distrubution nightmare it’s kinda crazy that 20 years in they refuse to acknowledge other language options. Eventually I caved and grabbed the docs for crystal clear since that seems? to be my focus right now.

Tour de undertale: The ruins is so weird compared to the rest of the game. Eating vegetoid doesn’t count as a kill Monster overworld encounters. I ate the vegetables and worried I ruined the run but turns out it’s fine to eat those fellas. His name is sans undertale’s monster. Sometimes you have to use the check button. Undertale features insecure teenagers. Sometimes you have to beat them up as well to steal their hats. But not too much. Ignore them too. The insistence on calling it a dusty tutu and the narrator saying it’s real armor are… concerning.I’m not posting about alphys because I stoped reading her texts as she went on and she reminds me of me which means that girl needs serious help.

Spring means I get pinged with many promotional emails and normally zero way to buy them, but for the last few years I've gotten way smarter with birthday/Christmas presents for the purpose of using them all in one go on video games. I don't think I did ever reposted the steam winter sales roundup of stuff I bought, huh. I think I bought way more with the spring sales just on principle. I basically only ask for gift cards for presents these days so I don't have to actually figure out what will be approved of by my family or not as a reasonable and safe purchase. The Winter Sale was uh, the two rayman games, undertale, slay the princess, spark 1, sonic mania and SA2. Sometime in between I got the murder of sonic and RPG Maker XP when it was being given away for free. Also forces and generations but they're not loaded in yet because I don't have room. Uh. I kinda went all out during the spring sales in terms of games. I got the orange box that has half life and portal 1, GMOD, cookie clicker (which I've already succumbed to number brainrot), Celeste (because I sure as hell am not using the epic games store anytime soon), hat in time, henry stickmin, stardew valley, sonic adventure DX and Terraria. Then to top it off, I was gonna buy disco elysium, but then I remembered the controversy, so I ended up buying minecraft instead since I already got terraria. I don't understand why I need a microsoft account if I'm just playing Java, but alright. It kept my demo world, which is pretty neat. I have no clue what I'm doing here. Maybe I'll just wander around. I really shouldn't keep adding more games to play though to my already growing list, so I need to finish undertale and the spark mod experience before picking up anything new(er.)

Gaming (The 3DS Special) I’m more excited over a new bridge in new leaf than new horizons‘s improvements. I guess having all that freedom didn’t really matter to me. I’m postponing the nuzlocke until I either A. Beat the X postgame B. Beat Yokai Watch 2 C. Finish Fire Emblem Awakening, which I dropped like a rock. I want to give it a few months because it is my first official nuzlocke… heh. I still have all my other games too… but that’s a future problem.
Pokemon Related Content

I played through Yellow Legacy which was fun. I did it on my tablet instead of my usual computer. I also played through cubic crystal since Delta came out. I forgot how much Zubat SUCK in early game when you’re on mt.moon and all the SuperSonics hit and you hit yourself everytime Goddamn bat. I have no idea how to start the looker quest in X and I think it’s hit low priority at the moment.

Tomodachi Life: I dumped a bunch of my Pokémon fic characters into Tomodachi life where I also had a bunch of joke characters because the old save wiped. There's like 6 Reds. Miku is there. I forgot how funny this can be if it’s full of mii OCs Other

To fill out the FFXIV MMO shaped hole in my life I’ve been playing mobile MMOs. I think the genshin gachafication of video games needs to be thoroughly studied because why is this game locking behind weapons. The only thing it should be used for is cosmetics like Maplestory used to do years ago.

2023

Anyways, I’m here to talk about kirby. (Unsure when the date for this is)

Something I’ve genuinely noticed about myself this year is that I have absolutely no abilities to complete things outside of “get it done as much as possible until fatigued” or “put it off as long as possible until it has to be rushed”, which generally sums up my attitude towards schoolwork as well.

Last time I mentioned kirby was on a twitter post where I mentioned playing Kirby’s dreamland DX edition, which adds color to it. I didn’t cover extra mode and I think the next game I moved onto was nightmare in dreamland versus playing just plain old adventure, but this is what I sparsely wrote because of character limit: “ I’ve only ever played Spring Breeze through Super Star and Ultra so going back to the original wasn’t too bad minus the one boss rush. I didn’t know the SHMUPs started this early in the series.” The next few games I played love doing (mini) boss rushes. In particular, I’ve played Nightmare in Dreamland, a bit of the NES kirby’s adventure, Super Star Ultra’s campaigns minus Meta Knightmare, and the Kirby Fangame Invaders from the Dark.

Overall: On the one hand, playing all of them back to back in such a way probably ruined the experience more than I think because my playstyle is so responsive to being able to just smack whatever’s in my way and deal with invincibility frames. That’s what playing mostly super star and ultra does to a person and I guess Star Allies (eh) is to blame as well. I got spoiled.

On the other hand, I think Kirby’s better when it’s not some immensely long puzzle solving grand adventure and is broke into bite size pieces like super star and amazing mirror do. Too bad there’s no games in the series exactly like those two. Nightmare in Dreamland (A bit of adventure as well): I’m not entirely sure what happened here, because either my memories are tricking me or the NES experience is what I remember outside of the game looking a bit… strange? All I had thinking was “why is butter building purple, why does getting hit once take your ability if enemies can swarm you so much, I’m not getting 100 percent.” It’s a bit disappointing to me because outside of a few levels I think the game looks and sounds nice. I moved onto adventure before stopping at around Grape Garden because I think visually adventure is more appealing but going back and having the exact same enemy rush problem where some puzzles require escorting an ability from a different level and dealing with screen lag on top of that made me move on.

Kirby Super Star Ultra Main Campaigns + Extra Modes Minus Meta Knightmare.: I’ve seen these backgrounds in sprite comics all the time. Honestly jarring. Since most of my kirby experience comes from amazing mirror as my first one and the 20th anniversary collection as the second, playing some of the remake games is definitely a new experience for me. I’m honestly a fan of Super Star because of the multiple campaigns and wish more Kirby games would aim for campaigns like the ones in Revenge of Meta Knight and Great Cave Offensive outside of just adding in a new playable character scenario. The closest so far are the timed campaigns in Star Allies, but I haven’t played forgotten land yet so I could be proven entirely wrong by it! Revenge of the king is like some mix between harder spring breeze and the hard mode of the original dreamland, which I didn’t play but I did try to see if it was visually similar. Not exactly since castle lololo never returned, but hey, Kabula’s back!!

Invaders from the Dark (Almost Completed): Anyways, what about that “almost?” I make it a point to try clearing main games as much as possible and going for 100 percent only if I really like something. For invaders of the dark, it’s something I wanted to complete because it’s the only platformer Kirby fangame out there that’s relatively completed and not just a mini game reskin or incomplete, but that final boss. Very uh. Out of place in difficulty. Honestly, Pandora from the last ice level was the same way with the ice attacks that chase Kirby and are indestructible. but my problem with Medeor or whatever is that the game throws you between the shmup and the final boss with no way to practice the 11th hour superpower. In this case I should probably just get good but I really don’t want to. It’s like, in theory, I should probably beat it but simultaneously I looked up the credits on youtube and the ending is done in a gamemaker bubble and the credits are in comic sans so I think it’s okay for me to say I’m not inclined to finish it anytime soon.

Conclusion: The games that try to emulate super star emulate the gameplay and not the actual game which was a bunch of mini games. In that way, super star and ultra still remain unique. But I’d rather play super star than ultra because I played the original first on the 20th anniversary collection and I’m the sound is off to me personally. It seems like in the case of Kirby, hardness comes with being a tiny bit annoying. I can’t count the amount of times I’ve lost an ability due to a bunch of Bronto Burt’s flying on screen at once where it’s a buy one get two deal where they all come at once. That was universal between all games, but I can’t stand it when adventure/nightmare did it because most puzzles required getting hammer or fire from one side of the room to another but I can’t exactly do that if I can’t keep the ability on me for more than one nanosecond. It’s my reaction time versus the enemies precision to snipe me from the room. And don’t get me started on the mini boss brigade that haunted me through nightmare in dreamland and amazing mirror and I’m glad none of them made it to 3D!! I never want to see Phan Phan, the fire lion, or that one dog ever again.

Old Media Log, Jan to April 2023

Unsure of when, Janurary:
Attempting to get to level 130 in Maplestory M through burning was like “wow this sucks.” Sia Astelle finally came out, she’s good. I learned that there’s actually voice acting in the game but I never hear it because I only have auto battle on. I did not get the last BTS cookie in kingdom and quite frankly I’m sick of the event and cookie run kingdom micromanagement but that’s likely burnout from BTS. I still haven’t progressed in FGO and it’s just the France saga. At the very least I haven’t deleted but I currently have no motivation to do it on my phone. The big Ipad though… I should likely transfer. Worsties update: So I beat Zapdos. Only took me learning attract and a lot of stat reducers between tail whip and attract (like my previous Eevee run. Also did the fugitives arc. Will likely cover later. Now I’m going to be stuck on Groudon like my first prediction!

Purging all genshin related info from my mind as soon as I saw a glimpse of it online or anyone talking about it IRL has left me clueless as to who anyone actually is or their importance or anything else because I had zero interest. This Diluc guy is cute. Apparently a 5 star. But I know nothing else. Genshin is kind of. Overwhelming? There’s a lot of stuff to do. I’m running around clueless getting the aetheryte teleport thingies while also doing quests and upgrades. It’s probably going to be my next big time sink like how I was with FF14 for a year. Food fantasy. Switched to the JP version INSTEAD of the English version, and I definitely had a better time because the English version is definitely stilted. Not even every character has a dub anymore so some characters have no lines in English. Minor, but concerning: what’s more concerning is that some blurbs don’t show up in English either: the game is probably slowly dying.

March:
Watching TOP progging and its good but also I keep thinking about how genuinely unhinged DSU’s prog era was (Among Us twitter saying who their favorite ward member was, Zephirin pogchamps, peepoArrive, the sheer audacity of the time travel timeline being the worse one, watching multiple DRKs being chased around, twitch chat hive brain screaming “SAVE HIM”, me having Finals during that time period and having 5 different streams open to see if anyone managed to get progress over the other, PlayStation memes, I AM NAMED KYLE). One of the leading groups is someone wearing a Sasuke wig. I have no idea what the shadowbringers ultimate could be. Hades? Warrior of Light? Maybe both? There’s also the buff cap problem they’ve been having which is kind of incredible. Solely dodging everything ahead. Remember when I was like, oh TOP Progging hasn’t been as insane as DSU, it got insane again because of mods involving the camera. I have nothing against mods but I’m obviously playing vanilla and my opinion doesn’t matter. That’s to say, I have no opinion on the matter. Do I think they’re bad? No. Do I think sometimes they’re used badly? I guess. I do wish I had the ability to backup games, nothings made me feel bad for buying afterwards and not contributing as spark the electric jester, which I couldn’t buy either. Hmm. They made the way bags open in POTD a lot faster. That’s good for future runs. Too bad I still can’t get past 20 on a normal day… but on the other hand I got a red panda!

FGO is one of those games I’m definitely going to watch versus actually play because whoooof. I cannot get myself through it. I could if I had enough incentive outside of cool units but I always impulse summon and get nothing. It’s definitely one of those things i hear about secondhand through looking at forum posts because those are a lot more entertaining. I was playing a nuzlocke mode of Emerald for one of my story concepts but it unceremoniously died at Flannnery and the only survivor was Azumarill, which died to a random battle, so I’m just going back to playing regular Pokémon. I started watching Astro Boy based on a recommend IRL and I had zero knowledge going in aside from what IRL person said which I forgot and also stuff from Megaman, but its pretty jarring to hear such a cheery opening and then the next thing is the boy that Astro is based on dying in a car crash. Then the next episode is Frankenstein. What a fascinating time capsule. a single episode of a show on Netflix which I’ve been considering not using since they have that dumb house policy. Going to check out Tubi more. FFXIV has me needing to multi class for a single job quest but I’m too lazy to do so at the moment. One day I’m gonna end up with an Omnicrafter by sheer accident.

Pokemon Emerald: There’s a section where I’m like… hmm. IGN might’ve been memed on for this one but they were kind of right to say there’s too much water. Why’s there a whole section with only like, one town that’s insignificant outside of floating on logs. It was at this point in emerald I was like “crap where am I going” so I just uh. Went with a guide. Route 123 to jagged pass… the back to back magma aqua stuff was grating, but rayquaza is so cool it makes me forgive it. speaking of forgiveness in video games. in between intermims when I get sick of pokemon (which considering I saw my playthrough’s team and realized there was no way I’d get to the elite 4 without grinding (I’ve been using music playlists to allievate the boredom), I play Kirby’s adventure. Even though it sort of has the same problems I had with nightmare in dreamland (fast ability stars and like zero time to react to grab it, enemy placement that’s absurd, minibosses… I don’t like), I forgive it because I think by NES standards it’s good in the music and art style. Nightmare in Dreamland just has something on it I don’t like (or it could just be rose tinted glasses.) In terms of FFXIV, there was the little lady’s day event which I did on one character and then basically lost interest in. Why is there an event centered on a dance that isn’t even loopable? This is like, the second event this year I feel like was… lowering my expectations.

April:
Playing animal crossing and forcing my switch to render millions of renders of corn so i can have the ugliest farm known to man so I can efficiently sell them by the daily for easy bells? Cool. Trying to remember to water gyroids by the daily? Uncool. I beat Pokemon Emerald but… I broke the rules. I did something I shouldn’t have done. I beat the elite four being carried by a level 70 rayquaza that replaced my camerupt because I was too lazy to properly train up the rest of my pokemon. It was real easy too, like once I caught it the final chunk of the game might as well have just been a speedrun. Disappointing? A bit. Guess I should try grinding a bit more for the next time I play emerald. This was the final roster since I was originally playing a nuzlocke (the only survivor was the Azumarill of the original run after everyone wiped to Flannery) and then just continued after the run ended. I swapped out my starter for Celebi. I made a piccrew of the protagonist too a while back (the story was that he thought the Celebi was a weird budew.)

Kind of interesting how anime as a whole is considered a single genre in the western/US sphere where people can be like, yeah, I’m watching Precure and using death note as a palette cleanser and people will just nod their heads like what

I miss dragalia lost. Now that I’ve effectively wiped my phone of internet usefulness (deleted Firefox for my finals) I use it less. Instead, if I want to do other stuff I have to do it on my iPad now because my laptop is fragile. It might implode if I have too many tabs open. I saw it flash a blue screen and feared. And the way I play FEH is downright stupid with me mostly shoving units into barracks like it’s the Pokédex or something I’ve been playing through emerald again but with a weird randomizer. Nothing more jarring than watching Pokémon be in the ocean and then use explosion and legendaries be commonplace catch rates and all. Now that i know what I’m doing though for Emerald’s plot I’m not as pissed off by the aqua magma fetchquest stuff, it’s not as bad once I recall what to do. I could always just consult *how long to beat* and see how far I get with that for non Pokémon RPGs but everything requires me investing time and for some odd reason it’s quite easy for me to not do that.

Misc. Games

Media

Mostly star rail (I posted about that), finishing Emerald’s trash run (I also posted about that), and doing my best to not be tempted into ruining my entire schedule thing by racing through ARR since I learned the speed run takes 20 hours. (Which I would obviously break down, I’m not that foolish,) I should’ve properly paced that, but I didn’t, which is going to lead to a very interesting experience if today was any indication when I have to inevitably tank and heal for the last chunk of MSQ since I don’t have other jobs for those alts since I barely play them, just take photos with them. As for the Pokémon thing I’m considering after this latest one I move onto the DS ones since I want to do more long running games for the fall to switch pace. The only consistent thing will likely stay with XIV (thus, ending the whole latale-flyff-RuneScape-MapleStory M rotation I had going on.) ToramOnline is really the only new thing I’ve added aside from briefly continuing my bakugan venture. It’s so wild that I learned in later seasons that they straight up get rid of two of the major supporting cast characters while the others are reduced to cameos. I haven’t gotten there yet, just to the point where the gang is sent to the doom dimension. XIV: I was told that it would’ve taken me like 3 hours to beat ARR on everyone but per character per day thats like 6 hours… i can’t do that kind of stuff anymore. One piece LA: Tbh im probably fully spoiling myself when i actually watch the anime parts but I don’t like the way Nami’s arc was handled in the live action but I dont know enough about her as a character in the anime to properly have thoughts on her. Also the lighting was really dark in some scenes and I couldn’t see anything (I wish movies and shows would stop doing that so often.) Madoka was taken off Netflix so I just watched a YouTube version that I found of rebellion in prep for the new movie. I haven’t watched the Gacha version. laTale M came out. It’s not good! Why do all the work to make a mobile MMO version of the game just to make it an automover? Makes no sense.

Pokemon Reboot certainly had some designs I didn’t see because I was too busy aiming for the nugget bridge exploit to get a dratini. Honestly that last chunk where I had to systematically hunt down every trainer was my fault which has inspired my new challenge run idea for randomizers I have, otherwise I’m just moving onto Gen 2. Which I’ve done so with Pokémon Crystal Advance (redux) I’ve never played the original crystal advance, so I have no merits to judge it. However, I’ve had some to say about it so far like… they sure did have a double battle with Falkner for the first gym. There’s a lot of generational distribution. I’m kinda more into an experience of vanilla johto instead of the perfected experience so after this I might go backwards to just plain crystal and gold and silver instead of something like… legacy. I spent way too much time on Star rail this week and the game only gave me light cones. I went from no rank to rank 26 and I think I fried my brain a bit. I do not like findie. Please tell me there’s an option to keep it quiet. It’s silly little beep beep beeps do nothing for me.
I slept through fanfest for 14 and didn’t miss much since I’m not posting DT stuff yet. I’m only interested in the collab stuff… Played more of Pokémon Crystal Advance Redux. This crap is hard as hell, even the magikarp have hands. I have to do teambuilding but also have to consider I can’t use more convenient Pokemon due to already using them for other halls of fame. And it’s only gonna get worse the more games I clear… I’ve yet to find a vanilla johto game remake but hey, shiny onix. I did not want an onix on my team. But since it’s shiny. I have to use it. My system in place is that I only play until I get a badge and then I stop. I hope onix can evolve without trading because I do not care about Onix in any way, shape, or form. I’m sorry onix enjoyers.

I’ve completed ARR on M’ari, meaning I’m at the halfway point for all of my characters. I think that ARR has some good areas but since I’m prioritizing clearing MSQ for the sake of it rather than taking my time that it’s reflecting poorly on me as I kind of… stop paying attention to yellow quests and stuff I was doing to have fun in the game. But I promised myself I’d complete all of them, so up next on the list is Sage. Who. Is falling a bit behind, somehow. My Warrior level didn’t get much exp in a while (and I haven’t tanked much duties, just DPS), but somehow I’ve managed to clear stuff. Doesn’t mean I’m a good tank. I completely forgot about the ARR ending part changes. On the one hand, better that they’re not janky. On the other hand, I kind of liked that jank. It was funny when sprouts were continuously believing that Westwind was immensely hard only for it to turn out to be easy as hell. The fall guys stuff dropped (well, its gotten patched in) and it’s so obnoxious that wraps back to being funny, im gonna learn how to be the best faller guy in XIV for the stupid crap. As a bonus, there’s some collages of progress for everyone. (It’s in a separate post.) In the meantime, I put a bit more effort into playing ToramOnline since it’s basically the only MMO that survived my no more mobile MMOs purge, because I like it. It’s charming, reminds me of MapleStory before I threw it into the gutter.

Star Rail (Jarlio VI, equilibrium 1.): The romantic start period I think is over and it’s back to doing the same grinding that I did with genshin minus the fact that it’s more convenient to play this game in short bursts instead of needing to do that open exploring thing, I can’t do that, my brain cells will only get me to explore one area instead of doing it all. Anyways, uh, Topaz made me learn about the stock market but when I rolled for both fire units I ended up with Himeko. Very cool.

FFXIV * Fall Guys: Man. I wish it was easier to see your arrow with the about face mechanic I’ve thought was mine but turned out was someone else’s. I’ve had the term “Sisyphean task” in my head for days while attempting to get past the second stage. GaiaOnline: Look at this cat thing. I’ve been making an in game journal and all I’ve been doing is pointing out stuff that works or doesn’t but now im just gambling in the auction and bumping forever in the forums. Also, the ruffle stuff works, sort of? The answer to that question was “yes, the ruffle stuff only really works on desktop, otherwise it takes forever or just leaves a black screen on mobile. LaTale journal: I deleted M because I hate autobattlers. I went back to desktop on a single mission. It’s more of an attempt to funnel directly to learning if the NPC fashion items were ever directly changed after multiple company transfers and if mobs still drop fashion items, but one is of a different priority than the other. Do later towns sell fashion items that weren’t documented? The answer I leaned was a fat “no” and that’s why nothing past 2008 focuses on different clothes and then Iris said something pressed so my motivation to continue the game died. Oh well. Least the musics still good. Pokemon(?) :There’s only so much time I can spend dedicated to long term RPGs so my new strat is doing ironman’s. One run and if I die im done.

Pokewilds retake: i updated but I lost all my old saves… I got swept by a sudowoodo. Pokémon crafting is pretty good fun. The Ironmon thing is pretty funny because it’s either like I manage to get through a game easily or I get wiped to the first few battles. I’ve gotten a bit in of Gaia and Turquiose.

It’s a combination of YouTube recs and that one marvel video, but I can’t get over how the stars were aligned for me to fixate on the show that literally just came out and instead I’m too busy getting absolutely beat in Rayman Redepmtion. Incredible. I also blame Captain Lazerhawk, even if that is an AU rayman. I’m kinda surprised that title character is barely in the tag. I sincerely need more podcasts outside of sleeping ones and video game news for games I don’t even play from companies I’ve never bought In terms of online games… The WiFi’s crap where i live again. I’m starting to suspect my break from part timers/ffxiv might be more permanent if the game keeps crashing like this/ i guess it’s a good thing I tried fall guys out now versus finding out it would be hot crap later.

FFXIV is a dearly beloved video game to me and I truly hope to continue the MSQ which I will do eventually, but for now it’s holding most of my attention as a roguelike with the occasional strategy dip with whatever I’m doing with the squadrons All I do these days is login to craft or play POTD, Gold Saucer, and drag alts through ARR, rinsing and repeating. Some of those alts are having skill issues though because I have no idea why I kept utterly failing at stone vigil. I eventually got through it with WAR on duty support but I don’t think I’ll ever be allowed to play with people again. FGO making a comeback was the last thing id expect to happen this summer but I still had the damn old account from 2018 so its back to the gacha mines I tried playing Sonic 1 and 2. Emphasis on tried. “You know, green hill was pretty fun, let’s make no stage like that ever”— Sonic Team. The special stages are heinous and I’m straight up never getting the good ending on either one. I believe the reason they only ever reuse green hill is because that’s probably what majority of people saw. Sonic is supposed to be cool, the classic one, but I see his little animations and go like, oh, he’s kind of cute. Genshin returned for like a single moment and then faded back into the BG. Final Fantasy 1 returns, but I immediately screw around with party compositions instead of continuing my original party. The wizard gang will carry me far into the game, I believe. I beat two rounds of emerald with pixie mons so now the third run of emerald is obviously just a regular run with it. I’m considering having a checkmark dex or something to ensure that I actually utilize all Pokémon that are available to me, even if that mindset is stupid. Actually, that gives me an idea based on my IRL Pokémon games I still have….

Using my switch online subscription the only two things I’ve been doing are playing yoshis island and trying to decorate my animal crossing island. I also redownloaded pocket camp. There’s way more events going on there, it kind of feels like I just play new horizons to decorate it so weeds don’t grow there. I revisited wild world but DS games are made for slower seasons I feel (like fall and winter.) Everyone in advance having a way to cheese bosses aside from sonic has some pretty fun matchups. The Amy campaign being lengthened by me not knowing her full move set was kind of nuts, watching a YouTube video where I saw her use an attack I never used in my game made me lose it (I played her more like a puzzle game since her move set is so different from the other three.) Kirby squeak Squad: Kirby doesn’t need inventory management. But squeak squad is a decent game when you don’t have some YouTuber/influencer telling you the game is mid. It might be mid in my opinion as wells but at least I’m not bored. More Pokemon . Same old, same old. Nothing incredible to say so it’s whatever. So the way I vibe with Pokémon isn’t active, but passive, because I use it to multitask with my hands while doing other stuff, like watching shows. Going forward I’ll only post cleared Pokémon games instead of in progress ones (unless it’s an ended demo.)

Playing: I just beat Kirby squeak squad yesterday so I think outside of the canvas curse and other spin-offs I’ve completed all of the pre 3D 2D mainline Kirby games. It’s decent when you don’t have people online in your ear complaining it’s mid. It’s reputation might just be “the one where Kirby goes crazy over a cake” but man if I was going to have a delicious snack and someone stole it I’d be mad too. Outside of that I’ve been working on SMRPG and the SNES Yoshi’s island. Casually I’ve been playing animal crossing and one of those Sanrio mobile games (but not the new one.)

La Tale: Let’s gooo, time to waste my entire life on a new MMO that doesn’t have all the insane stuff behind it. But I need to be careful lest I turn into a beast of nature like my MapleStory days. It’s so funny how badly I slide off gacha games and like things people consider being good or not. Everyone is out here with their new games and meanwhile I got back into playing like, a Pokémon Emerald Bad Pokemon only run where I immediately busted out the rare candies since I quite frankly do not have the time or patience to actually grind out them. I think it’s justifiable when other hard mode games do have them.

( I still stand by the rare candy thing. No one is playing something like run and bun with grinding, there are level caps for a reason.)
